Dog ring cut from gear

When a dog ring wears out, most people think that one must replace the entire gear, even though the gear itself is perfectly serviceable. Not so. The dog ring can be machined off of the gear and be replaced with a new dog ring which is electron-beam welded in place.

This is a very cost-effective method for getting the full life from the gear (a replacement 2nd gear for a 996 Cupcar is about $2000). This process is suitable for RSR, Cupcar, GT2, GT3, Twin Turbo, 996(G96) and 997(G97) gearboxes.
